Hi!!

Do you know a nice restaurant? Im looking for it
I am organizing with a couple of colleagues our department christmas 2010 dinner with Geocoaching activities in Taunus area (Hessen, Germany). We are looking for a restaurant as finish point. I am new in Taunus area therefore I dont know a lot of places. We´re looking for a restaurant with an Atmosphere a little different as a normal restuarant.

Different atmosphere means some Cultural or Intellectuel or Altenativ or Underground or Chic or Modern or Artistic and not a typical "german" restaurant. Maybe with artistic paintures or frames in the walls and not with Grand Mother or Grand father or Animals in the walla...
A restaurant where the people is more relax.....a little informal (But not where only "junkies"are).
We are almost 20 persons, so in case will be small restaurant is okay, we can be able to speak with the owner and reserved the complete restaurant for us.

Do you know have some restaurant that you can recommend?

Thanks !

Arturo

ps.
You can answer in german language as well: don_enchilada(at)hotmail.com

usually when my colleagues from New York are in town we have lunch there. its really good food,
maybe the size is not for everyone :lachtot: but i guess you will love it

Or you go to the Waldgeist "Eiserne Hand" near Wiesbaden. I think the atmosphere is better than in Hofheim. They have got a table on 6 feet. So you feel like a little Child, when you are sitting on it :)

One option might be the Taunatours Basecamp in Oberreifenberg
but it may be a bit too casual for functions.
And not arty but sporty (bring your climbing gear!)...
On the other hand you can get parts of the basecamp for your own dependent on how many pax you have.

Then there is a prison style (ok again not really cultural) restaurant in Ruedesheim (far west Taunus), I have not checked out, but stumbled upon and found worth testing some day :D

Maybe more to come...
Cheers mate

Not directly Taunus but very close is the Gasthaus Zum Löwen in Frankfurt-Sossenheim. The restaurant achieved many hessian gastronomy awards and they offer traditional hessian and german food.
Very delicious and moderate pricing :^^:

You could go to Wunderbar weite Welt http://www.wunderbar-weitewelt.de/ in Eppstein. It is directly at the S-Bahn station (S2), they have good food and changing art exhibitions, too. And they are very relaxed.

Try the Spectaculum in Oberursel.
Very great place, with a medievil bowling area. Its a big hall looking like a castle on the inside and they got great medievil food and drinks (Met and stuff :) ).
It`s perfect for bigger groups, but you should call them before, to make sure you and your mates get a free table!
They are defenitely -"different" :) Everyone is running around in medievil dresses and they talk like people did in these ages!

Alternative to visit "Waldgeist" at Eiserne Hand i would Recommend "Tannenburg" at Taunusstein-Hahn, which also provides good and much food. In my humble opinion the food-quality here is more in focus than the quantity.

Other possible places to go could be "Morscher Mühle" near Idstein-Walsdorf, located directly to the Road B8 from Frankfurt to Limburg. It is owned by a geocacher - so you can find plenty of chaches around and even in the Biergarten around the house. If you are intrestet, just visti one of the caches near it an contact the owner. She might have some more tipps for you and could help you organize your trip.

Last tip of mine is "Obermühle" near Hohenstein-Hennethal, where you can get food right off the grill wich is fired with wood and located in the guests room, wich is quite spectacular, i think.
